Weekend Adventure: Bay to Breakers

So this weekend I am heading back home to the San Francisco East Bay, probably one of the best areas EVER! I always find myself going off on crazy wondering day trips and never failing to find a new favorite place. This weekend is only a short two day trip but my schedule is a crazy one. Seeing the cousins and the grandparents, celebrating my Dad's 50th birthday along with Mother's Day AND last but certainly not least is running Bay to Breakers with my mom.
Bay to Breakers is a 12k race that takes place in SF every third Sunday in May, but thats not all. It's also a haven for all the SF crazies to unite and RUN! Everyone wakes up super early puts on a crazy costume and runs the hills and streets of beautiful San Francisco. They are many wacky traditions too; like throwing tortillas in the air at the start of the race, getting drunk while you run, dressing up in outrageous costumes, running naked and then of course the free concert afterward. It's been going on for 99 years and I hope it will continue on forever because it has become an institution and tradition.

Heading Home!

Coffee

cof·fee (kôf, kf) 1. A drink made from the roasted and ground beanlike seeds of a tropical shrub, served hot or iced.
This seemly innocent drink is made in so many different ways all around the world at every time of day. I prefer my coffee in the mornings with some half & half and just a pinch of sugar. others like it black, or with just a dash of milk. However you like coffee it seems that everyone can appreciate the warmth of the mug, the sweet aroma and soothing taste.
I was never much of a coffee drinker, let alone a connoisseur, but I do consider myself to be an adventurer of Coffee shops. Most of my finds aren't my own, they were shown to me by the Queen of all coffee, Jana Cranmer, my predecessor of coffee adventuring in San Diego. So if you're ever in the area and looking for not only a great "cup o' joe" but a lounge to relax, these places are a must!

Frenzy Friday

Well first of all the words frenzy and tizzy really are not used enough in everyday language. I have decided that I really am going to start showing people how smart I am (notice I will not just appear to be smart, but help people to realize how smart I really am) by using my quite extensive vocabulary. In today's society too many people use too many words because they simply (which can be used instead of "just don't") have the vocabulary or they don't know how to use it. With my summer school English classes approaching I figure its probably a good time to begin practicing.
Friday is going to be insane! It marks the last full week of classes and the beginning of yet another approaching weekend where I will struggle to make any headway on numerous projects and reading assignments. But hopefully everyone has something fun planned for Mother's Day...unfortunately my mother is 500 miles away so a phone call will just have to suffice until next weekend.
In closing, yet another week has passed and I have a few count-downs going on that I will let you in on

9 days until the 99th anual Bay to Breakers 12k run in San Francisco!!!

15 days until I am done with Spring Semester!!!

20 days until summer school starts (Boooo for summer school!)

21 days until Dad's big 50th Birthday

25 days until I get to move!

63 days until summer school is O-V-E-R

They are so many more but my brain is already in overload.

Ranunculus. Everywhere I look lately I have been seeing
Ranunculus and they have quickly become my favorite flowers.
They start out as weird little bulbs and in July and August they
are gorgeous!

Tattoos

Tattoos?? What do you think about them. I am personally very torn, I want one, but I don't. It's permanent and lets face it I am not looking for anything permanent in my life right now. I am just going with the flow of things. This weekend I went with a friend to get her first tattoo and I was very tempted to get one myself, but one call to momma put things back into perspective. Don't get me wrong I have plenty of friends and family members that have become living and breathing canvases and I enjoy seeing tattoos on others... but for me I haven't found something that I am ready to live forever with, but here are some cool tattoos that are tempting me to get inked

My friend's new tattoo for her dad. It reads "As Above So Below"

Dwayne Johnson ("The Rock")

Hayden Panettier's very cute Italian Tattoo.... too bad it's misspelt

Do you think Lindsey is telling the Paps to shut their yaps??
